Mrs. Shaista Ambar
Cited as the 44th most powerful woman in India, Shaista Amber deeply influences the women around her.
Born in 1962 in Allahabad to a railway guard and also a famous Urdu poet, Shaista Amber was predicted to be Bakhtawar (fortunate). At school, a versatile student and later an ambitious women, from a very young age her stories and articles were published in prominent Indian and International magazines and still continue to be published today.
From the shadow of one literati to shadow of another literati, she married Mohd. Idrees Amber, a civil service aspirant and an upcoming urdu poet.
Blessed with two daughters and a son, she was hurt by the tyrannical attitude of society towards the women. Taking a step ahead herself, she started helping the poor patients of SGPGI Hospital that was situated down her street.
She founded the first ever women mosque of India and through extensive research and hard work was highly acclaimed when she presented the Model Nikahnama.
Supported by a dynamic team of women from all walks of society and striding ahead on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, Amber continues to fight every injustice forced upon women, to spread the goodness and stop the evil.
